Since the late 1950s, the Chief Executives of Europe’s national export and investment promotion organisations meet on an annual basis in order to discuss topics of common interest. Today, this network counts more than 40 member organisations from 27 countries. It gathers senior level executives of European Trade Promotion Organisations (TPOs) who discuss their experiences in trade and investment promotion in a transparent, non-competitive atmosphere based on mutually beneficial exchange.
The 28-29th April, 2011 conference brings together CEO specialist expertise to discuss, with the economic recovery on our continent slowly progressing, the reshaping of Europe.
Looking at the European Union, one cannot conceal that the economic and financial crisis exposed gaps in the very structures of our economies. Finding an answer to the question how Europe wishes to compete and close gaps with smarter performing and more innovative economies is of the utmost importance. The EU, today more than ever, needs to urgently demonstrate its competence to generate growth rates by committing to reshape its economic landscape and develop a strategy that shows throughout the world that European countries are up to the challenge of a next phase of globalisation.
In this context the role and a potential reshaping of European TPOs is going to be debated. In order to prepare TPOs successfully for the challenges to come, it is important to question how TPOs can continue to provide value to their stakeholders and make a difference in international activities.
This invitation-only conference will gather TPO representatives at CEO level as well as numerous representatives from politics, academia and the European Commission.
